memories by Maki Otsuki is the first ending theme to the One Piece anime, being used from epsiodes 1 through 30 in the original run and appearing at different times throughout the shows timeline. For the Funimation dubbed version of the anime, the song was performed by Tony Tony Chopper's english voice actress, Brina Palencia.
The original single was released in Japan on December 1st, 1999 and made #94 on the Oricon Music Chart, lasting there for one week. The single also featured another of Maki Otsuki's songs, Before Dawn, but is not related to the animes fifth ending of the same name.
The ending animation features Luffy looking out at the ocean during sunset while the camera very subtly zooms in. As it continues, the rest of the Straw Hats from East Blue slowly materialize next to him in the order they originally joined: Zoro first, Nami, Usopp, and then finally Sanji.

Chiisana koro ni wa takara no chizu ga Atama no naka ni ukandeite Itsudemo sagashita kiseki no basho o Shiranai dareka ni makenai you ni |
When I was small, I had a treasure map floating in my mind I kept (have always been) searching for a miraculous place That I didn't want to lose to someone unknown |
Now, each day is filled with dust Someday, I'll leave everything Up to time |
Moshi mo sekai ga kawaru no nara Nanimo shiranai koro no watashi ni Tsurete itte omoide ga iro asenai you ni |
If the world ever changes Take me away to myself that never knew a thing Making sure that my memories won't fade away |
I was singing since I was small Warming the heart that dreams The secret melody that everyone imitated Making sure that it sounds better this time |
Ima de wa tame iki tsuite bakari de Daremo mada hontou no Yume sae tsukamenai mama |
Right now, I keep on sighing Everyone is still unable to Grab the true dream |
Moshi mo jidai ga modoru no nara Namida o shitta koro no watashi ni Tsurete itte setsunasa ga oitsukanai you ni |
If the time ever goes back (old times ever come back) Take me to myself that learned (knew) tears Making sure that loneliness can't catch up |
Moshi mo sekai ga kawaru no nara Nanimo shiranai koro no watashi ni Tsurete itte omoide ga iro asenai you ni |
If the world ever changes Take me to myself that never knew a thing Making sure that memories won't fade away |
Tsurete itte setsunasa ga oitsukanai you ni | Take me along, making sure that loneliness can't catch up |
