• On the Official Staff social media accounts (Twitter / Instagram) following Chapter 990, a countdown with an image, number, and the appropriate representative color of each Strawhat was released in reverse order of when they joined the crew, with each image being the panel of their first introduction into the series. The exception being Jinbe, whos image is from Chapter 557.

• This chapter was announced at the end of Episode 956 by Luffy and Chopper in celebration of the milestone.
• While this chapters color spread was broken in half to celebrate the 1000th chapters release, the full color spread was also revealed seperately.
• Oda confirmed the similarities between the Chapter 100 and Chapter 1000 color spreads in SBS Vol. 99.
• Luffy's silhouette at the end of this chapter resembles Shanks' pose of removing his Straw Hat at the end of Chapter 1.
• This chapter was released alongside the second chapter of Shokugeki no Sanji.
