There are a total of 14 unique items that can be randomly found during a battle. Items spawn in specific locations and one at a time in either a crate, barrel, or chest (depending on the stage) and require the player to break it open. Items cannot spawn if the effect of the previous item is still active. Additionally, items will automatically despawn if not picked up within 5 seconds or are destroyed by an attack.
Items have different spawn rates depending on the stage, with some appearing more frequently on certain stages compared to others and some not appearing at all. All item spawn frequencies can be found in the stage section.
There are 4 food items, the Onigiri, Tankard, and Meat that heal varying amounts, and the Amiudake that inflicts damage along with a brief paralysis. All food items are used upon contact with the item, regardless of if it's the player or computer.
There are 5 boon items that boost Attack, Defense, Speed, all three, or add a tier to the Bombstock gauge. Similarly, these are all used upon contact with the item.
Lastly, there are 5 hold items that can be picked up and thrown to damage and/or stun opponents by standing over the item, pressing ( ↓ + B ) to pick up, and pressing ( B ) again to throw.
